Olicía
The EP “Olicía – live at robotron Kantine” is a companion to the recently released new Olicía album “Out of the Blue” (1.11.2024, o-cetera). After two EPs and two studio albums, you can hear how Olicía develop their songs live with two synchronized loop stations and an array of different instruments, finding space for improvisation in the midst of the loops and bringing new facets of the songs to the fore.
The songs were recorded live in the same space where from April 3 – 13, 2025, an exhibition will be shown in collaboration with Kunsthaus Dresden, presenting the works of fine art and handcrafts created during the album process.
There is the bouncing, danceable “Bloom”, which is based on the (seam) lines of a blouse designed by fashion designer Katharina Haydeyan. In “Kleine Töne”, the two adapt a layering technique from abstract painter Claudia Kleiner that leaves windows open to deeper textures and looks back to the origin of a blank canvas, both lyrically and musically. “Finally”, a collaborative work with Sudabeh Mohafez, an author admired by both musicians, is an evocation of female self-empowerment and resistance.
„Out of the Blue” is an attempt to take a completely new look at one’s own art form, to connect Olicía‘s music with other art genres through dialog and exchange. Each song on it looks into the parallel universe of another artist from fields such as film, design, painting, literature and arts and crafts.
