Olicía & Katharina Haydeyan
„Bloom“ is the third installment in a series of collaborative singles with artists from other disciplines. Their collaboration with the fashion designer Katharina Haydeyan from Dresden, Germany, lead Olicía to create a song entitled “Bloom” - one of the most upbeat and playful pieces in their catalogue of music to this point. Containing such elements as a four-on-the-floor House beat, flourishes of mouth percussion, expansive, layered lines of vocal melodies on top of bouncy piano chords that feel like a stream of constant change and renewal: “I feel the wind is changing | Inside of me | A new beginning.”
“’Bloom’ is a song about starting anew, about keeping things playful and light, feeling cleansed and refreshed and following a new path with lightness, like a change in the direction of the wind.” is how Fama M’Boup explains their approach the song. “Sometimes a thing needs to be handled with ease in order for it to develop its strength”, Anna-Lucia adds.
The corresponding creation by Katharina Haydeyan under the same title is a piece of clothing. A unisex shirt that combines strict cut of the garment with playfully curved, flowing lines that lend to it a light and modern look. The two available sizes are based on Anna-Lucia and Fama. The blouse has a loose fit and invites the wearer to feel comfortable and free.
Katharina explains the process of creation as follows: “For ‘Out of the Blue’, our idea was to create something together and merge the styles of both art forms. This sparked a lively exchange between intros, fabrics, rhythms, fits, basslines, and details. The result is a garment that plays with clarity and line design, incorporating the sounds of Olicia into its design. We wanted it to be a timeless, durable, and versatile garment that is the perfect choice for any occasion - the classic shirt. An essential piece in every wardrobe.”

Out of the Blue
Out of the Blue will be a cycle of songs and corresponding works of art that are born from dialogue – from conversation and exchange between the two musicians in Olicía and artists in other genres, such as painting, fashion, dance, literature, film making, design, or arts and crafts. The works are gradually developed, ping-ponged back and forth, playfully shaped into their final form. Learning and borrowing from one another in the process - adapting strategies, materials, structures, or approaches. From an exchange of ideas and sentiments and their - at times - vague and fuzzy articulations into dots and notes, shapes and chords, textures, patterns, configurations, and designs. In the end, the result will be two separate works of art, existing on equal footing, sharing the same seed, still conversing with one another, complementing one another, or simply exploring the same ideas while venturing out into opposite directions.
